SHAREit lets you transfer filesfrom different devices like phones, tablets, and computers. Using direct Wi-Fi connections, SHAREit can send files, photos, videos, and apps from one device to another. When it works, it is awesome, but when it doesn't, there's little reason to try again. 

Send photos, videos, apps, and more

The core feature of SHAREit is transferring files between people without having to use cloud storage. You can share photos, videos, local music files, documents, and apps from one device to another. It doesn't matter what platform you're using because SHAREit only communicates with other SHAREit-enabled devices.

It doesn't transfer data over a general Wi-Fi connection or Bluetooth. Instead, it creates a direct wireless connection with up to five devices like a small network. Once connected to another device, files can be sent and received. You can also clone a device and send its contents to another device.

The best part of SHAREit is that it's multiplatform, including Windows PC.

Doesn't always work

Being multiplatform also causes problems for SHAREit because you have to troubleshoot connection problems on different devices. Since SHAREit doesn't use a connection over a Wi-Fi network or Bluetooth, it has to create a direct connection with another device. This means the devicecreates a hotspot that other devices connect to.

The app also doesn't explain that you will need to adjust your Wi-Fi settings. In the Settings menu there are options to "prefer hotspot" when sending or receiving, but the app never mentions that devices will create hotspots to share data. SHAREit is also buggy. My first attempts at transferring files caused the app to freeze. Both devices had to restart SHAREit before the transfer worked.

When SHAREit does work, it is fast. Pictures transferred quickly. Video had an uneven transfer speed and transfers sometimes looked frozen. Once files transfers are complete, the app disables the wireless connection and reverts back to the original connection. This means if you want to share another file, you have to go through the steps of starting and connection to the hotspot again.

The main problem with SHAREit is that it claims to be easy to use but it's actually kind of confusing for the average user. 

Needs more polish

SHAREit has potential to be useful, but the lack of instructions and explanation make it frustrating to use. There's also a lack of polish and intuitiveness. Closing the hotspot connection makes sense, but having to go back through these steps to start another transfer is annoying.

There are a lot of easier options to transfer photos and files. SHAREit is good for video, but that depends on how large the file it.

SHAREit promises on ease of use, but hasn't reached that goal yet. If you want to transfer files, try Pushbullet.

Subway Surfers is a Temple Run-style game where you have to escape from a railway inspector angry with you for spraying graffiti over the station. 

Keep on running

The objective of Subway Surfers is very simple. You automatically dart up the screen along the train tracks, and must avoid all the obstacles in your path, such as trains, buffers and carts. 

Along the way you need tocollect coins which can be exchanged in Subway Surfers for special items such as coin magnets, hover boards and even paint-powered jet packs. These power-ups really help to make the game more exciting, and often they are needed in order to overcome a particularly tough part of the game.

The game allows you to challenge your Facebook friends and also gives you the possibility to earn more coins for Subway Surfers by inviting friends via Facebook. 

Controls and environment in Subway Surfers

The touch controls in Subway Surfers couldn't be simpler. You can dodge by tapping left or right, jump by swiping upwards, or duck by swiping downwards. Running is done for you, so these touch controls are all you need to worry about. You can activate power-ups simply by running into them then using them to perform special feats.

Subway Surfers is a good looking endless running game. The 3D graphics are bright and colorful, and there's plenty of fun and humor in there. Sound effects and music are used to good effect too. 

The verdict

Subway Surfers is a fun reworking of the Temple Run format, which is addictive to play and will keep you coming back for more.

In Clash of Clans, you play the role of the head of a barbarian tribe. Your goal is to create a town that is rich in resources, and that is also well protected so that you don’t get attacked by enemy tribes. With your troops are ready and well prepared, you can go to visit the neighbouring villages, which will either be controlled by other users or by the computer (if you are using the game’s story mode). Maybe you’ll be victorious and lose just a few men, or you might have a disastrous expedition and so have to hire new soldiers willing to die in combat. Although, as Clash of Clans features in-app purchases, you need to be patient if you don’t want to pay. 

Clans are the key to victory

Not all clans will turn out to be your enemies. In Clash of Clans you canform clans online, with whom you can share troops, exchange resources and do everything in your power to be the best clan in the universe.

Clash of Clans regularly updates and improves the way the clan system works. For example, if you create a clan you can add the frequency of attacks, as well as the location. And if you prefer to join an existing clan you can search for one based on these criteria. This means you will not run the risk of being expelled from a clan because you don’t have enough time to play, something that used to happen pretty often.

On an artistic level, Clash of Clans features cartoon-style graphics, and the number of objects and troops that you can add is varied and expands as you level up. 

Barbaric wars

Clash of Clans is a game that is all about strategy and building up your resources. While this kind of game is not new and we’ve seen similar titles on PC for decades, developers Supercell have managed to turn Clash of Clans into a reference point for mobile games of this genre. The game feels complete and entertaining, without resorting to the complexity of franchises such as Age of Empires.
